Gray Matters Collective
The Gray Matters Collective is a non-profit organization that started at nearby Augustana College with the goal of ending student suicide, creating a safe space, training students to better care for each other, and tackling the struggles of student suicide one person at a time.
Why our "gray matter" is important:
- Mental health has been declared a global crisis by the World Health Organization.
- Suicide is the leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds with an emphasis on individuals aged 18-24.
- Nationally, 24,000 college students attempt suicide.
Suicide must stop taking the lives of our friends, family, and loved ones. We must be at the frontline of the battle, and The Gray Matters Collective is taking charge. There are several chapters throughout the Quad Cities area, and SAU is one of them!
